Excel Learning Center is a unique learning center because it focuses on reading only!
Reading is one of the keys that can unlock success in a person’s life. Without strong reading skills most people will struggle through school, limiting their career choices as an adult. The world has become a highly competitive place, and the responsibility of every parent to not only to prepare their child to compete, but to help their child someday fulfill their potential and realize their dreams, whatever they may be.
While other centers tutor a broad range of subjects, we specialize on improving a students reading ability. We are able to help your child become a fluent reader without any wasted time or money.
Our beginning reading program takes s student from learning the sounds of the alphabet to a fluent reader in six months. This program is designed for children in kindergarten through the second grade. We combine phonics with the whole language method, making sure that your child is not only able to decode (sound out) words, but also has strong comprehension skills. Students learn that reading is not a chore or something that is only done for school, but that it is one of the most pleasant pass times they will ever experience. Students who read for enjoyment are more likely to be stronger academic readers as well.
Our remedial program is designed for children in grades 3 through 5. An assessment is given to determine not only their reading level, but also what their learning style is so that we can design a program especially for them. Each student is treated as an individual, and we repeat, will eliminate wasted time and money. We do not make the student go back and review hours of material that they already know. We move them forward quickly, teaching only those things that will improve their reading. This method helps increase their self-confidence, while allowing them to still have time to do the things they love most.
